Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Groundbreaking Ceremony was held at 4pm on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the new location: 4818 West Street, Forest Park (corner of West Street at North Avenue, across from the back parking lot of the First Baptist Church of Forest Park).
A cold front coming through made the proceedings chilly, but well over 50 people turned out to view the plans and express their support for the new library. Members of the local community and elected officials, representatives from the Fire Department and the Police Department, the Library Board, the Friends of the Library, and the media were in attendance. County Commissioners Gail Hambrick, Wole Ralph, and Chairman Eldrin Bell all spoke thoughtfully and supportively for the library, as did Alan Harkness of the Georgia Public Library Service.
